William Francis Morneau Jr. PC (born October 7, 1962) is a Canadian businessman and former Liberal Party politician who served as minister of finance and member of Parliament (MP) for Toronto Centre from 2015 to 2020. Morneau was elected to the House of Commons in the 2015 election and was immediately appointed finance minister by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Morneau resigned from both positions in August 2020 in the wake of the WE Charity scandal. In May 2021, Morneau was found to have violated Canada's Conflict of Interest Act
