- The Battle of Fornovo took place 30 km (19 miles) southwest of the city of Parma on 6 July 1495. It was fought as King Charles VIII of France left Naples upon hearing the news of the grand coalition assembled against him. Despite the numerical advantage of their opponents, the French won the engagement and Charles was able to march his army out of Italy. It was nonetheless devoid of any strategic result as all of their conquests in the Italian Peninsula were abandoned. Fornovo was the first major pitched battle of the Italian Wars. (en)

Pertempuran ini terjadi ketika Raja Charles VIII dari Prancis meninggalkan Napoli setelah mendengar berita tentang koalisi besar yang berkumpul untuk menentangnya. - La bataille de Fornoue est un affrontement de la première guerre d'Italie qui eut lieu le 6 juillet 1495 à Fornoue, à 20 km au sud-ouest de Parme. Bien que Charles VIII ait réussi à s'emparer du royaume de Naples sans rencontrer beaucoup de résistance, l'hostilité grandissante des États italiens face à l'occupation et surtout la formation de la ligue de Venise contre les Français, l'obligent à écourter son séjour à Naples, où demeure Gilbert de Montpensier, et à faire retraite vers la France afin de ne pas se retrouver pris au piège. Ses ennemis lui bloquent le passage à Fornoue, l'obligeant à livrer bataille. Les deux camps se proclament vainqueurs : Charles VIII peut reprendre sa route vers la France, les Italiens emmènent un important butin mais ont subi des pertes très supérieures à ce (fr)

In essa si affrontarono l'esercito di Carlo VIII di Francia - composto da francesi, mercenari svizzeri e un nutrito contingente di italiani - e quello della lega italica rinnovata nel marzo 1495 - formato dagli eserciti di Milano e Venezia, per la gran parte composti di mercenari, italiani, albanesi, dalmati, greci e tedeschi, ma anche da alcune unità di leva. Lo scontro, breve (circa un'ora), ma sanguinoso (complessivamente circa tremila morti), ebbe un risultato incerto. (it)
- Bitwa pod Fornovo – starcie zbrojne, które miało miejsce 6 lipca 1495 r. w trakcie wojny neapolitańskiej w latach 1494–1495. W roku 1494 władca francuski Karol VIII wkroczył do Piemontu czym zapoczątkował trwający do 1559 roku cykl tzw. wojen włoskich. Kolejnym etapem Karola był Neapol, który otworzył swe bramy przed Francuzami dnia 22 lutego 1495 r. Postępy Francuzów wywołały zaniepokojenie we Włoszech. 31 marca w Wenecji zawarto Świętą Ligę, w skład której obok Wenecji i Aleksandra VI, weszli Ludwik Moro, cesarz Maksymilian oraz Ferdynand i Izabela. Nad Francuzami zawisła groźba odcięcia powrotu, wobec czego Karol zdecydował się na opuszczenie Neapolu. Wojska Ligi pod wodzą Franciszka II Gonzagi, księcia Mantui, starały się powstrzymać przeciwnika pod Parmą. 6 lipca doszło do bitwy w dol (pl)
