Baotang Wuzhu (traditional Chinese: 保唐无住, 714–774CE), was the head and founder of Baotang Monastery (Chinese: 保唐寺) in Chengdu, Sichuan, south west China. Both (Kim Ho-shang) and Baotang Wuzhu were of the same school of Chinese Chán, the East Mountain Teaching (incorrectly known in Western scholarship by the pejorative nomenclature "Northern School").

Born in what is now Shaanxi Province, his father had served in the army during the early years of the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang. Wuzhu, also known for his strength and martial abilities, served in a yamen as Patrolling Grand Lance Officer before beginning his study of Buddhism under the enlightened layman Chen Chuzang. (en)
