Astra 2D is one of the Astra communications satellites owned and operated by Société Européenne des Satellites (SES), and located at 28.2° East in the geostationary orbit until June 2015. It is a Hughes Space and Communications HS-376HP satellite bus, and was launched from the Centre Spatial Guyanais in December 2000 to join Astra 2A and Astra 2B at 28.2° East, where it remained for its active life. As of February 2013, Astra 2D has carried no regularly active transponders.

Orsaken till detta är att bland andra BBC och ITV sänder sina TV-kanaler okodade från satelliten och inte har rättigheter för programmen utanför det egna landet. Det handlar dels om programrättigheter men också om att BBC ska kunna sälja sina program till TV-bolag i andra länder, däribland Sverige. Från 2013 har Astra 2E tagit över sändningarna från samma position, inga transpondrar sänder längre från 2D.
