The Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) is an American volunteer-managed, 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1987 as a support network and advocacy group for women who work in sports writing, editing, broadcast and production, and public and media relations. The membership of more than 700 men and women includes professionals in the industry and students aspiring to sports media careers.

| - جمعية النساء في الإعلام الرياضي هي مؤسسة غير ربحية قائمة على عمل المتطوعين بها، تأسست سنة 1987 كشبكة داعمة ومؤيدة للمرأة العاملة في مجال سواء في أو . تتألف الجمعية من أكثر من 700 عضوا نساء ورجالا بينهم مختصون في مجال الصناعة، وأيضا تلاميذ يطمحون إلى العمل في مجال الإعلام الرياضي. تعمل الجمعية من أجل تحفيز و زيادة التنوع في الإعلام الرياضي وذلك من خلال برامج التدريب ؛ الذي قدم منح دراسية لقرابة الـ100 طالبة منذ 1990. وكذلك من خلال روابط التوجيه ومبادرات التعزيز الوظيفي. تكرّم الجمعية سنويا الأشخاص الذين كانوا سببا في تسهيل دخول النساء إلى ميدان الإعلام الرياضي وذلك بجائزة . و تساعد الجمعية الذين يحاولون تخطى الصعوبات التي تواجههم في مسيراتهم. تأسست الجمعية أوّلا على يد 4 صحفيين رياضيين هم: نانسي كوني،سوزان فورن, ميشال هيملبرغ و كرستين هكشورن. و ذلك بهدف إنشاء شبكة قوية و مجموعة مؤيدة للنساء التي تعمل في الإعلام الرياضي . حضر اجتماع توقيع إتفاقية الجمعية الأولة السنوية عام 1998 أربعين شخصاً في أوكلاند، كاليفورنيا. - The Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) is an American volunteer-managed, 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1987 as a support network and advocacy group for women who work in sports writing, editing, broadcast and production, and public and media relations. The membership of more than 700 men and women includes professionals in the industry and students aspiring to sports media careers. AWSM was formed in 1987 by four California sportswriters, , , and —to create a strong network and advocacy group for the few women who were working at the time in sports media. Forty people attended AWSM's first annual convention in 1988 in Oakland, California. 15 years prior to the creation of the Association for Women in Sports Media, the Title XI law was put into place. This law stated that discrimination would not be tolerated when it came to access and how women were treated whether playing a sport, or reporting on a sport. (en)
