Des de 2009 tant l'editorial com la revista depenen d'Aperture Foundation, una organització sense ànim de lucre dedicada a la fotografia artística. La primavera de 2013 el vaixell insígnia de les revistes de fotografia artística es va rellançar, incorporant-se al món de la fotografia digital amb el número Hello, Photography, obert a nous lectors, i que presentava un format més gran. La revista fue fundada en 1952 por Minor White, Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Barbara Morgan, , Beaumont Newhall, y . El primer número llevaba en la portada una fotografía de Dorothea Lange e incluía dos artículos, uno sobre la captura fotográfica de Nancy Newhall y otro sobre la fotografía con cámaras pequeñas escrito por Minor White. Surgió inspirada en la revista Camera Work fundada por Stieglitz. La revista tenía influencias del arte abstracto y el simbolismo y en ella publicaban jóvenes fotógrafos como Brett Weston, o Aaron Siskind. También publicó un monográfico sobre Diane Arbus un año antes de su muerte. (es)
