Anil Arora is the currently serving Chief Statistician of Canada, in office since 19 September 2016. He replaced Wayne Smith, who resigned to protest changes in Statistics Canada's informatics infrastructure stemming from the Shared Services Canada initiative. Prior to his appointment, he had served as a career employee of Statistics Canada, reaching the post of Assistant Chief Statistician before moving to management positions in Natural Resources Canada and then Health Canada.
