She worked prolifically as a film actress in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War appearing in the lead roles in several successful films that included The Marriage of Figaro and Dark Eyes (1951). A versatile actor, she appeared in a variety of cinematic genres in Germany and Austria and attained international recognition in French, English and Italian films. Cominciò la sua carriera come ballerina all'età di cinque anni al Wiener Staatsoper e, a vent'anni, ottenne un contratto presso il Landestheater di Salisburgo. Contemporaneamente comparve nel primo film e, solo un anno dopo, le fu affidato il ruolo di protagonista ne . Negli anni successivi prese parte a numerose produzioni tedesche e austriache e, per tre film, lavorò anche per la DEFA (azienda cinematografica di stato della Repubblica Democratica Tedesca). (it)
