| - هو شهاب الدين أبو المحاسن عبد الحليم بن مجد الدين أبي البركات عبد السلام بن عبد الله الحراني. والد الشيخ ابن تيمية. من كبار أئمة الحنابلة. ولد في حران سنة 627هـ. الموافق 1230. وخرج مع عائلته من حران إلى دمشق عام 667هـ بسبب استيلاء التتار عليها وكان عمر ابنه الشيخ تقي الدين بن تيمية 6 سنوات. كان يدرس بجامع دمشق وتولى مشيخة دار الحديث السكرية بالقصاعين وبها كان مسكنه. ثم درس ولده الشيخ تقي الدين بها بعده. وتوفي ليلة الأحد سلخ ذي الحجة، الموافق 19 (آذار/مارس) 1284. وحكى المقريزي أنه توفي في السابع والعشرين من ذي الحجة وعلى كلٍّ فقد توفي عام 682هـ ودفن في مقابر الصوفية بدمشق. - العقيدة الواسطية هي رسالة من تأليف الشيخ ابن تيمية، ألفها سنة 698 هجرية، ذكر فيها جمهور مسائل أصول الدين والمعتقدات، ومنهج أهل السنة والجماعة. وسبب تأليف هذه العقيدة أنه قدم لابن تيمية من أرض واسط شيخ يقال له: رضيُّ الدين الواسطي من أصحاب الشافعي وكانا حاجًّا، وشكا ما الناس فيه بتلك البلاد، وفي دولة التتر من غلبَة الجهل والظلم، فكتب له هذه العقيدة، وقال عنها: «أنا تحرّيت في هذهِ العقيدة اتّباع الكتاب والسنة»، وقال أيضاً: «وكل لفظٍ ذكرته فأنا أذكر به آية، أو حديثاً، أو إجماعا سلفياً». He approached us during the Hajj pilgrimage and he was among the people of virtue and religion. He complained of the people among him in that land under the Tartar government, of the prevalence of ignorance and oppression, the loss of religion and knowledge. He asked me to write a creed for him that he and his household could rely upon. I abstained from that and I said, ‘People have written a number of credal texts, so take one of the creeds written by the Imams of the Sunnah.’ He persisted in asking and he said, ‘I would like no one but you to write it.’ So I wrote this creed for him while I was sitting after midday, and many copies of it have been distributed in Egypt, Iraq, and elsewhere.
