| - Giovanni Battista Agostino Codazzi (alternatively known in Latin America as Agustín Codazzi; 12 July 1793 – 7 February 1859) was an Italo-Venezuelan soldier, scientist, geographer, cartographer, and governor of Barinas (1846–1847). He made his main investigations and cartographic work in Venezuela and Colombia, thereby creating for both countries a complete set of maps and statistics after the tumultuous years following independence from the Spanish Empire. - Agostino Codazzi Bartolotti, également connu sous le nom d'Agustín Codazzi, né le 12 juillet 1793 à Lugo, dans la province de Ravenne, en Émilie-Romagne et mort le 7 février 1859 à Espíritu Santo, en Colombie, est un militaire, explorateur et géographe italien ayant participé aux guerres napoléoniennes et à la libération de l'Amérique du Sud. Ingressà com a voluntari en un regiment d'artilleria francès (1812), assistint a les Batalla de Lützen (1813), Bautzen, Leipzig i altres, fins a l'abdicació de Napoleó Bonaparte, després de la qual es retirà del servei per a dedicar-se al comerç a Constantinoble. Februar 1859 in Espíritu Santo, dem heutigen Agustín Codazzi, Kolumbien) war ein italienischer Militär, Geograf und Kartograf. 1852 inspizierte er Panama für die britische Regierung. 1857 entdeckte er Stein-Skulpturen am Río Magdalena. Er erlag der Malaria in einem Dorf in den kolumbianischen Bergen, das später nach ihm benannt wurde. (de)
