Afrikaanderplein was a football ground in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. It was the first home of the professional football club Feyenoord – then known as Wilhelmina (1908–09), HFC (1909), Celeritas (1909–12) and eventually Feijenoord – from its foundation in 1908 until 1917, when the club moved to a new ground at the Kromme Zandweg. Before the foundation of Feyenoord, fellow Rotterdam club Excelsior played its matches on the Afrikaanderplein in the season 1907–08, after which the club returned to Woudestein.

- Het Afrikaanderplein is een plein in Rotterdam-Zuid, aan de Paul Krugerstraat. Tussen 1909 en 1917 lag er een voetbalveld. Op dat veld voetbalde de hoofdmacht van Wilhelmina, dat in 1912 Feyenoord zou worden. Op het plein stond in vroeger jaren, tot 1960, een achtkantige muziektent. Tegenover de Joubertstraat en tussen 1960 en 1980 waren jaarlijks terugkerende evenementen de kermis en het circus, onder andere het circus Toni Boltini. De Rooms-katholieke Sint-Franciscus van Assisikerk werd in 1912-1913 gebouwd op de hoek van het plein en de Paul Krugerstraat. De kerk werd in 1975 gesloopt. (nl)

Voorheen werd die markt de Maashavenmarkt genoemd en stond langs de Maashaven en Hillelaan. Deze moest in verband met de bouw van de metrostations Maashaven en Rijnhaven het veld ruimen. De Afrikanermarkt is de op zes na grootste markt van Nederland. De grootste is de De Haagse Markt, daarna komen Eindhoven en de Binnenrotte in Rotterdam Centrum. De Afrikanermarkt trekt een wijd publiek uit de omliggende wijken. Een groot deel hiervan is van allochtone afkomst. Op het grote plein worden regelmatig (buurt)evenementen georganiseerd. (nl)
