Abu-l-Hasan Ali ibn Ruburtayr or Reverter (Arabic: أبو الحسن علي ابن رويبتر) (? – 1187 in El-Omra, Tounes) was the younger son of Reverter I viscount of Barcelona, and a Muslim Catalan mercenary commander. He left the Christian faith and territories, and converted to Islam. His Christian name is unknown. The Christian mercenaries are sometimes accused of having let the Almohads enter the city in exchange for the Amān, a sacred safe conduct. The conversion of Reverter could support this thesis. He is, besides Abu al-Mundhir, the only known case of a Muslim military commander of Catalan origin.

El seu nom cristià no es coneix. Quan el seu pare va morir el 1142 en combat contra els almohades, va assolir el comandament de l'exèrcit cristià de Taixfín ibn Alí, el soldà almoràvit del Marroc. El 1146 el nou soldà Abd-al-Mumin ibn Alí va prohibir als cristians romandre als seus dominis, i llavors es va fer musulmà i va agafar el nom àrab. (ca)

| - أبو الحسن علي ابن رويبتر (توفي 1187م، تونس) هو الابن الثاني لريفيرتر الأول. صار على نفس نهج أبيه وانضم إلى صفوف جيوش المسلمين في المغرب والأندلس، وتخلى عن الإيمان المسيحي واعتنق الإسلام. اسمه المسيحي غير معروف. عندما توفي والده سنة 1142 وهو يقاتل في صفوف المرابطين ضد الموحدين، عينه الأمير تاشفين بن علي قائدا في جيش المرابطين بالمغرب. بعد سنة 1146، عندما بدأت دولة الموحدين تسيطر على مقاليد الحكم، كان علي ابن ريفيرتير من بين المسيحيين الذين أبقاهم عبد المؤمن بن علي في صفوف الجيش، فاعتنق الإسلام واتخذ اسمًا عربيًا. وفي سنة 1183م أرسله الخليفة يعقوب المنصور إلى جزيرة مايوركا للتفاوض مع بنو غانية. وبعد أن تناهى إلى أسماع بني غانية مقتل الخليفة الموحدي قاموا باعتقال رسول الموحدين إليهم علي بن الربرتير، وكان الذي أسره هو ، الذي كان من قادة الأسطول البحري المرابطي. لكن هذا الرسول كان شعلة متقدة من الدهاء فاستطاع أن يقنع الحراس النصارى الموكلين بحراسته بان يطلقوا سراحه ويعينوه على قلب نظام الحكم على أن يعطيهم أموالا كثيرة ويطلق سراحهم ليذهبوا إلى بلدانهم في أوروبا، وفعلا تمت الاتفاقية، واستغل ابن الربرتير احرام الناس لصلاة الجمعة وخرج على حين غرة وتمكن من أسر أسرة علي ابن غانية نفسه ثم تحصن بأحد الحصون هناك وهدد كل من يحاول اقتحام الحصن بقتل أم علي بن غانية مما جعل أهل الجزيرة عاجزين عن فعل أي شيء. وبعد مفاوضات طويلة رضخ أهل الجزيرة لللامر الواقع وتم الاتفاق بين أهل الجزيرة وابن الربرتير على أن يٌرجع أهل الجزيرة محمد بن غانية (الذي عزله اخوته من قبل) إلى الحكم ويعلن محمد بن غانية بدوره دخوله في طاعة للموحدين، واخذ منهم الايمان المؤكدة على ذلك ثم نفذ ما اتفق مع جند النصارى وسرحهم إلى بلدانهم سنة 585هـ/ 1185م ورجع هو إلى مراكش ليبشر الخليفة الموحدي بعظيم صنعه. وبدى كانما دخلت الجزيرة في طاعة الموحدين أخيرا. ثم ترك علي ابن رويبتر مايوركا، وعاد إلى المغرب، واحتجزه بنو غانية وتم إعدامه في عام 1187م خلال غزوتهم على بجاية. When his father died in 1142 or 1144, he became leader of the Christian mercenary regiment of Tashfin ibn Ali, the Almoravid Sultan of Maghreb and Al-Andalus. In 1147, the Almoravid capital city, Marrakesh fell to the fanatical Almohads. The young Reverter decided then to embrace Islam and took an Arabic name. The Christian mercenaries are sometimes accused of having let the Almohads enter the city in exchange for the Amān, a sacred safe conduct. The conversion of Reverter could support this thesis. With the fall of the Almoravids, Reverter then served the Almohads. In 1183 the Sultan Yaqub al-Mansur sent him to Al-Mayurqa in order to take the island from the Banu Ghaniya, but he was captured by the Almoravid admiral Ali ibn Maymun, who was positioned against the Almohad rule. Ibn Ruburtayr managed to escape and to turn the island in favour of his master, until he placed a sovereign submitted to the Almohads on the throne. Then he left Al-Mayurqa and returned to Maghreb, where he was executed in 1187 after he fell at the hands of the Banu Ghaniya. He is, besides Abu al-Mundhir, the only known case of a Muslim military commander of Catalan origin. (en)
