C'est le deuxième des World Marathon Majors à avoir lieu en 2012 après le Marathon de Boston. Le Kényan Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich remporte la course masculine avec un temps de 2 h 4 min 44 s, à trois secondes du record de l'épreuve détenu depuis 2011 par son compatriote Emmanuel Mutai. Chez les femmes, la Kényane Mary Keitany s'impose pour la deuxième fois consécutive en 2 h 18 min 37 s. (fr)
- De marathon van Londen 2012 werd gelopen op zondag 22 april 2012 in Londen. Het was de 32e editie van deze marathon. De wedstrijd werd bij de mannen gewonnen door de Keniaan Wilson Kipsang in 2:04.43. Hij miste hiermee op enkele seconden het parcoursrecord en bleef zijn landgenoot Martin Lel (2:06.51), drievoudig Londenwinnaar, en de Ethiopiër Tsegaye Kebede (2:06.52) ruim voor. De wereldrecordhouder Patrick Makau nam ook deel aan de wedstrijd, maar moest halverwege de wedstrijd opgegeven.Bij de vrouwen werd de wedstrijd beslist door Mary Keitany, die 2:18.37 nodig had om het parcours in Londen af te leggen. Dit was een verbetering van het Keniaanse record. Hiermee is ze de snelste atlete op de marathon achter Radcliffe en Sjoboechova. (nl)
- The 2012 London Marathon was the 32nd running of the annual marathon race in London, England, which took place on Sunday, 22 April. Both of the elite races were won by Kenyan athletes, and Ethiopia's Tsegaye Kebede was the only non-Kenyan to reach the podium in either race. Mary Jepkosgei Keitany won the women's elite race for the second year running with a Kenyan record time of 2:18:37 hours. Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich was the men's race winner with a time of 2:04:44 – four seconds off Emmanuel Kipchirchir Mutai's course record set at the 2011 London Marathon. (en)
