The 2004 Tampa Bay Buccaneers season was the franchise's 29th season in the National Football League, the 7th playing their home games at Raymond James Stadium, and the 3rd under head coach Jon Gruden. This season began with the team trying to improve on their 7–9 record in 2003, but they fell even further to a 5-11 record and missed the playoffs for the second straight season. Brian Griese set a number of franchise records for passing. Michael Clayton set a rookie record for receiving.
