In their second year under head coach Joe Salem, the Golden Gophers finished in fifth place in the Big Ten Conference (Big Ten), compiled a 5–6 record (4–5 against Big Ten opponents), and were outscored by their opponents by a combined total of 250 to 210. Total attendance for the season was 265,105, which averaged to 44,184. The season high for attendance was against rival Iowa.
