- Le style troubadour est un mouvement artistique émergeant sous la Restauration française, qui s'épanouit dans la première moitié du XIXe siècle, et tendant à réinventer et s'approprier par les différents arts, une atmosphère idéalisée du Moyen Âge et de la Renaissance. Il peut apparaître comme une réaction au mouvement néoclassique puis au style Empire. L'influence du style néo-gothique anglais, apparu dans le dernier tiers du XVIIIe siècle, est cependant tout aussi manifeste, ce qui conduit les spécialistes à voir dans l'imagerie troubadour l'une des composantes du romantisme.
