"Niesamowity zespół strunowy") został założony w Glasgow w 1965 przez szkockich muzyków folkowych: Robina Williamsona, i Clive'a Palmera. Nagrali oni swój dobrze przyjęty debiutancki folkowy album The Incredible String Band w 1966.
