Είναι το τρίτο μεγαλύτερο νησί της Σκωτίας και το πέμπτο μεγαλύτερο του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου με έκταση 968,79 τ.χλμ. και έχει 18.765 κατοίκους, περίπου το 80% του συνολικού πληθυσμού των νησιών Σέτλαντ.
