| - Els brucis (en grec Βρέττιοι, en llatí bruttii) foren un antic poble del sud d'Itàlia entre el país dels lucans i els estrets de Sicília, és a dir l'actual Calàbria. No hi havia cap nom pel país en conjunt (anomenat el Bruci o Brutti), si bé els autors posteriors l'anomenaren sovint la regió el Bruttium, però el nom no era usat al temps dels romans; els grecs li deien Brètia. They inhabited the southern extremity of Italy, from the frontiers of Lucania to the Sicilian Straits and the promontory of Leucopetra. This roughly corresponds to the modern region of Calabria. Occupying the mountains and hills of Calabria, they were the southernmost branch of the Osco-Umbrian Italic tribes, and were ultimately descended from the Samnites through the process of Ver Sacrum. Mówili językiem oskijskim, należącym do oskijsko-umbryjskiej języków italskich. Brucjowie zorganizowali się w konfederację miast ze stolicą w Cosentii. W IV wieku p.n.e. Brucjom udało się obronić przed Aleksandrem z Epiru i Agatoklesem z Syrakuz, dzięki zwycięstwu w. W czasie II wojny punickiej stanęli po stronie Hannibala. (pl)
- Bruttierna var ett italiskt folk som talade oskiska. De bodde i ett område som i stort motsvarar det moderna Kalabrien i Italien. Området gränsade sålunda till Lukanien. Deras område kallades ibland Bruttium. Beteckningen bruttier är exonymt givet av lukanerna och betyder rebeller på oskiska. (sv)
