| - Barotrauma je fyzické poškození tkání způsobené rozdílem tlaků mezi tělesnými dutinami a okolním prostředím. Postihuje nejčastěji potápěče (především ušním a plicním barotraumatem). Příčinou poškození je stlačení či roztažení tkáně vlivem změny tlaku okolního prostředí. Barotraumata se dělí podle zasaženého orgánu nebo podle mechanismu způsobující poškození. (cs)

- Barotrauma is physical damage to body tissues caused by a difference in pressure between a gas space inside, or in contact with, the body, and the surrounding gas or fluid. The initial damage is usually due to over-stretching the tissues in tension or shear, either directly by expansion of the gas in the closed space or by pressure difference hydrostatically transmitted through the tissue. Tissue rupture may be complicated by the introduction of gas into the local tissue or circulation through the initial trauma site, which can cause blockage of circulation at distant sites or interfere with normal function of an organ by its presence. - Barotrauma eller tryckskillnadsskador är ett samlingsnamn för alla typer av fysiska skador på vävnader som orsakats av ett förändrat omgivande tryck i förhållande till hålrum i kroppen som innesluter gas (eller i gasfickor intill kroppen). Exempel på hålrum som kan drabbas är mellanöron, bihålor, lagade tänder, tarmar och lungor. Även huden kan drabbas genom att det bildas gasfickor i exempelvis en tätslutande klädesplagg eller dylikt.
