Hij was onder andere hoogleraar aan de universiteiten van Leuven in Brabant en Dowaai in Frans-Vlaanderen. Van die laatste universiteit was hij ook . Hij was ook leraar en president van het seminarie te Dowaai. Estius schreef onder andere een commentaar op de brieven van Paulus en een geschiedenis van de Martelaren van Gorcum. Paus Benedictus XIV benoemde Estius tot Doctor Fundatissimus. (nl) Willem Hessels van Est, talvolta italianizzato in Guglielmo Estio (Gorinchem, 1542 – Douai, 1613), è stato un teologo olandese. Docente di teologia a Douai, dal 1595 fu cancelliere dell'università del luogo. Nel 1614 commentò acutamente le Lettere di Paolo in un pregiato volumetto.
