The Uzushio-class submarine (Whirlpools) was a series of submarines in service with Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force which was the first generation of the teardrop type submarine that valued the underwater performance against that of the conventional-hull type Asashio class. Seven from 1967 fiscal year were built with the third defense plan. The eighth 49 fiscal year warship was discontinued and construction was discontinued because of the construction expense and sudden rise oil crisis though eight were planned at first. Many were converted to training submarines (ATSS) towards the end of their lives.

- うずしお型潜水艦（うずしおがたせんすいかん、英語: Uzushio-class submarine）は、海上自衛隊が運用していた通常動力型潜水艦の艦級。水上航行能力を相応に重視していた在来型船型を改め、水中性能を重視した涙滴型船型を採用した初の艦級である。 第3・4次防衛力整備計画により、昭和42年度から48年度にかけて7隻が建造された。順次に改良が重ねられているため、計画番号は、42・43SSがS118、44〜46SSがS119、47・48SSがS119Aとなっている。なお、当初は8番艦の計画もあったが、第一次オイルショックによる建造費高騰を受けて中止された。 (ja)
- Okręty podwodne typu Uzushio – typ japońskich okrętów podwodnych, wprowadzających do służby we flocie japońskiej dwukadłubową konstrukcję o kształcie kropli (typu Albacore). Okręty tego typu zbudowane były ze stali o wysokiej ciągliwości w celu zwiększenia możliwej do bezpiecznego osiągnięcia głębokości zanurzenia oraz automatyczny system sterownia w trzech wymiarach w celu ulepszenia kontroli przy dużej prędkości w zanurzeniu. Umieszczenie głównej anteny sonaru w dziobie okrętu, wymusiło instalację wyrzutni torpedowych w śródokręciu. Pierwsze dwie jednostki zostały wyprowadzone ze stanu floty w 1987 i 1988 roku, pozostałe zaś okręty przeznaczono do służby szkoleniowej, a następnie pocięto w latach 1990-1996. (pl)
- Подводные лодки типа «Удзусио» (яп. うずしお型潜水艦 Удзусио-гата сэнсуйкан) — серия японских дизель-электрических подводных лодок, наиболее крупные японские субмарины с момента окончания Второй мировой войны. Первые построенные в Японии подводные лодки с каплевидной формой корпуса, они сформировали основу для всех последующих типов подводных лодок Морских сил самообороны Японии, включая наиболее современный на 2008 год тип «Сорю». Всего с 1968 по 1978 год было построено 7 подводных лодок типа «Удзусио». С появлением более современных подводных лодок типа «Харусио», они были постепенно превращены в учебные и впоследствии пущены на слом в конце 1980-х — первой половине 1990-х годов. (ru)
