Timothy Chooi (born December 17, 1993) is a Canadian-American violinist and professor. He won the First Prize at the 2018 International Joseph Joachim Violin Competition and Second Prize at the 2019 Queen Elisabeth Competition. He has also won prizes at the International Yehudi Menuhin Violin Competition, Michael Hill International Violin Competition and the Grand Prize at the 2010 Montreal ManuLife Competition.

Chooi startte als jonge violist met de Suzukimethode en studeerde later met Pinchas Zukerman en Patinka Kopec aan het National Arts Centre in Ottawa, aan het Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia onder begeleiding van Ida Kavafian en Pamela Frank en aan de Juilliard School met Catherine Cho. Chooi bespeelt een Stradivarius uit 1717, gekend als de "Windsor". Zijn oudere broer, Nikki Chooi, is eveneens een professioneel violist. Ze spelen beiden ook als onderdeel van het ensemble 'The Chooi Brothers'. (nl)
