The Swordswoman of Huangjiang (Chinese: 荒江女侠; also known as Huangjiang Nüxia) was a 13-film wuxia series. The only film of the series which still exists today was its first installment, Uproar At the Baolin Temple, which is the lone surviving film of Chen's silent-era oeuvre [1] as well as one of only two [2] surviving Chinese films of its kind from that period [3]. The entire series was filmed over two years [4] and includes elements of drama, comedy, and action [5][6]. It featured archetypical motifs that would become common in the wuxia films which began to appear and gain popularity more than three decades later.[7]
