Tavistock Abbey, also known as the Abbey of Saint Mary and Saint Rumon, is a ruined Benedictine abbey in Tavistock, Devon. Nothing remains of the abbey except the refectory, two gateways and a porch. The abbey church, dedicated to Our Lady and St Rumon, was destroyed by Danish raiders in 997 and rebuilt under Lyfing, the second abbot. The church was further rebuilt in 1285 and the greater part of the abbey between 1457 and 1458.

  • L'abbaye de Tavistock était une abbaye bénédictine située à Tavistock, dans le Devon. Elle est fondée en 961 par l'ealdorman Ordgar, mais détruite dès 997 par une attaque des Danois. Elle est reconstruite sous son second abbé, Lyfing, qui devient par la suite évêque de Worcester. Son successeur, Aldred, devient également évêque de Worcester, puis archevêque d'York en 1061. La chiesa abbaziale, dedicata alla Madonna ed a San Rumone, venne distrutta da razziatori danesi nel 997 e ricostruita sono , il secondo abate della congregazione.
