The statue of St. John of Nepomuk in Divina is the National Cultural Monument of Slovakia. Divina is a village and municipality in Žilina District in the Žilina Region of northern Slovakia. In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1325. The Statue of St. John of Nepomuk is registered in the Central List of the Slovak Memorial Fund under the number 1334/2. It is a sandstone sculpture from 1796 standing on a stone base. The statue has a good artistic elaboration of the saint's face and drapery. The saint does not have a traditional biretta on his head. The statue is a remembrance of the last male descendant of the aristocratic Szunyogh family – John Nepomuk Szunyogh, who is credited with the construction of the Divina church and rectory.   • La statua di San Giovanni Nepomuceno è un monumento culturale nazionale della Slovacchia. Il progetto di rinnovamento nasce dall'iniziativa dell'architetto , PhD. e viene realizzato sotto gli auspici dell’Ambasciata della Repubblica Federale di Germania in Slovacchia. La statua si trova nel villaggio di Divina. Il villaggio, di circa 2400 abitanti e si trova nel distretto di Žilina. Giovanni (Jan) Nepomuceno, ovvero di Nepomuk (Nepomuk, prima del 1349 – Praga, 20 marzo 1393), è stato un presbitero boemo, canonico nella cattedrale di Praga e predicatore alla corte di re Venceslao, il quale lo fece uccidere per annegamento. Proclamato santo da papa Benedetto XIII nel 1729, è patrono della Boemia, dei confessori e di tutte le persone in pericolo di annegamento. La sua festa cade il 16 maggio. (it)
