SS Rochambeau was a French transatlantic ocean liner of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (CGT). She was launched in 1911 and scrapped in 1934. She was the first French ship to be powered by a combination of reciprocating steam engines and steam turbines. She was named after the Comte de Rochambeau, a French aristocrat and marshal who led an army in the American Revolutionary War.

  • Le Rochambeau est le deuxième paquebot dit « à classe unique » de la Compagnie générale transatlantique. Il entre en service en septembre 1911 sur la ligne Le Havre—New York. C'est une version agrandie du paquebot , mis en service trois ans plus tôt. Entre 1915 et 1918, il assure un service régulier entre Bordeaux et New York (en raison de la Guerre, la tête de ligne a été déplacée du Havre à Bordeaux). Il est ensuite modernisé en 1926. Les travaux incluent la pose de vitrages à l’avant du pont-promenade. Il est démoli à Dunkerque en 1934. (fr)

A embarcação era uma versão ampliada do SS Chicago, lançada três anos antes, e realizou sua viagem inaugural em setembro de 1911 de Le Havre a Nova Iorque. Ele serviu nesta linha até 1915, quando foi transformado em um cruzador auxiliar na Primeira Guerra Mundial e colocado para zarpar de Bordeaux. (pt)
