The rondador is a set of chorded cane panpipes that produces two tones simultaneously. It consists of pieces of cane, placed side by side in order by size and closed at one end, and is played by blowing across the top of the instrument. The rondador is considered the national instrument of Ecuador. Further knowledge on the instrument is required, as the musical scale of which note each tube played projects is unknown.

Posee un sonido cristalino muy característico. Alterna dos escalas pentatónicas, de tal manera que el intérprete puede tocar más de una nota por vez. Suele utilizarse para ejecutar sanjuanitos. "Su afinación, que es lo más particular de este instrumento, comienza con dos o tres notas que suelen ser el Sol y el La seguidas de una escala pentatónica Do, Re, Fa, Sol y La pero después de cada nota de esta escala va intercalada una tercera menor.
