Die FPN gehört u. a. dem Weltverband Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA), dem europäischen Verband Ligue Européenne de Natation (LEN), dem Dachverband Confederação do Desporto de Portugal und dem Comité Olímpico de Portugal, dem Nationalen Olympischen Komitee Portugals an. 379 portugiesische Sportvereine sind Mitglied in der FPN (Stand September 2015).
