- Poppon de Stavelot, né en 978 à Deinze (Belgique) et décédé le 21 janvier 1048 à l'abbaye de Marchiennes en France, était un moine bénédictin, abbé de Stavelot et proche conseiller de Henri II qui lui donna la charge de réformer à la manière clunisienne et superviser une quinzaine d’abbayes de l’empire. Un très ancien document historique le certifiant, il est connu comme le premier pèlerin flamand, à avoir visité la Terre sainte. Canonisé en 1624, saint Poppon est liturgiquement commémoré le 25 janvier. (fr)

He became one of the best known abbots of Stavelot and was one of the first recorded Flemish pilgrims to the Holy Land. Liturgically, he is commemorated on the 25th of January. (en)

- Poppo (Deinze, 978 – Marchiennes, 25 januari 1048) was een benedictijnse monnik en later abt. Poppo werd geboren in een adellijke familie, als zoon van Titzekin en Adelvina (of Adalwif). Na verschillende bedevaarten koos hij in 1006 voor het monastieke leven: in dat jaar trad Poppo in bij de benedictijnen in het klooster Saint-Thierry in Reims. (nl)
