- La musique finlandaise est apparentée aux musiques scandinaves (norvégienne et suédoise) et baltiques (lituanienne, partageant une culture assez proche, mais aussi à la musique russe, en vertu de l'annexion de pays à la Russie au XIXe siècle. La musique classique a trouvé en Sibelius un compositeur attaché aux valeurs nationales ayant pourtant une envergure internationale.
