Moritz Schönfeld (9 February 1880 – 4 October 1958) was a Dutch linguist who specialized in Germanic linguistics. Mortiz Schönfeld was the author of several reference works on Germanic names and Dutch etymology which have been highly influential and are still in use today.

Seine Familie stammte ursprünglich aus Sachsen, war von dort um 1600 nach Hessen und um 1800 in die Niederlande gezogen. Sein Vater war der Lehrer der Naturkunde Carl Dietrich Schönfeld, seine Mutter Maria Elisabeth Venema war Tochter des Geographen und Statistikers Gerardus Azings Venema. (de)
