- Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni (arabisch محمود شريف بسيوني, DMG Maḥmūd Šarīf Basyūniyy; * 19. Dezember 1937 in Kairo; † 25. September 2017 in Chicago) war ein ägyptisch-amerikanischer Jurist. Er wirkte von 1964 bis 2012 als Hochschullehrer an der DePaul University und gilt als einer der führenden Experten im Bereich des Völkerstrafrechts, dessen Entstehung und Entwicklung er maßgeblich beeinflusste. Zu den Auszeichnungen, die ihm in Anerkennung seiner Verdienste verliehen wurden, zählen unter anderem der The Hague Prize for International Law, Ehrendoktortitel verschiedener Hochschulen, das Große Bundesverdienstkreuz und die Aufnahme in die Ehrenlegion. - Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni (Arabic: محمود شريف بسيوني ; 9 December 1937 – 25 September 2017) was an emeritus professor of law at DePaul University, where he taught from 1964 to 2012. He served in numerous United Nations positions and served as the consultant to the US Department of State and Justice on many projects. He was a founding member of the International Human Rights Law Institute at DePaul University which was established in 1990. He served as president from 1990 to 1997 and then as president emeritus.
