The county of Perche was a medieval county lying between Normandy and Maine. It was held by an independent line of counts until 1226. One of these, Geoffroy V, would have been a leader of the Fourth Crusade had he not died before the assembled forces could depart. The county then became a possession of the crown, which removed part of it to create the county of Alençon.

| - Le comté du Perche est issu de l'union de deux seigneuries : celle de Mortagne-au-Perche, et celle de Nogent-le-Rotrou. Les seigneurs de Mortagne furent parfois qualifiés de comtes, mais pas de manière systématique. Ce fut le comte Geoffroy de Mortagne qui adopta le titre de comte du Perche, à la fin du XIe siècle. À la mort de l’évêque Guillaume du Perche, en 1226, le comté fut réuni à la Couronne. Plus tard il fut donné en apanage à des princes du sang. (fr)

Carles II el Magnànim (1328-1346) fou comte d'Alençon, de Perche, de Chartres, de Porhoët i de Joigny (1335-1336, administrador 1336-1338).
