In 2019, Illinois had a total summer capacity of 44,250 MW through all of its power plants, and a net generation of 184,470 GWh. The corresponding electrical energy generation mix was 53.6% nuclear, 26.5% coal, 11.7% natural gas, 7.9% wind, 0.2% biomass, and 0.1% hydroelectric.
