També era coneguda com la Bethaus Israelitische in der Wiener Vorstadt Leopoldstadt. Va ser construïda en 1858 en estil morisc Revival per l'arquitecte Ludwig Förster. Oficiálně nesla název „Das Israelitische Bethaus in der Wiener Vorstadt Leopoldstadt“ („Israelitská modlitebna na vídeňském předměstí Leopoldstadt“). Postavena byla r. 1858 podle plánů architekta Ludwiga Förstera v novorománsko-maurském slohu. Třikrát členěné průčelí s dominantní centrální částí lemovanou dvěma menšími křídly po stranách se stalo oblíbenou předlohou mnoha pozdějších synagogálních staveb, například Španělské synagogy v Praze, synagogy Tempel v Krakově, synagogy v Záhřebu, Velké synagogy Edirne, Templul Coral v Bukurešti nebo Velké synagogy Dohányi v Budapešti. - Der Leopoldstädter Tempel, auch bekannt als das Israelitische Bethaus in der Wiener Vorstadt Leopoldstadt oder Synagoge Tempelgasse, war eine Synagoge im 2. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Leopoldstadt (Tempelgasse 3). Die zwischen 1854 und 1858 nach Plänen von Ludwig Förster errichtete Synagoge bot 2000 Sitzplätze und wurde 1938 während des Novemberpogroms mit Ausnahme der Seitentrakte, in denen sich von 1893 bis 1938 u. a. auch die Israelitisch-Theologische Lehranstalt befand, völlig zerstört. Heute werden Teile des Grundstückes noch von der jüdischen Gemeinde genutzt. (de)
- The Leopoldstädter Tempel was the largest synagogue of Vienna, in the district (Bezirk) of Leopoldstadt. It was also known as the Israelitische Bethaus in der Wiener Vorstadt Leopoldstadt. It was built in 1858 in a Moorish Revival style by the architect Ludwig Förster. The tripartite facade of the Leopoldstädter, with its tall central section flanked by lower wings on each side, became the model for numerous Moorish Revival synagogues, including the Choral Temple in Bucharest, which has an almost identical main facade, the Zagreb Synagogue, the Spanish Synagogue in Prague, the Tempel Synagogue in Kraków and the Grand Synagogue of Edirne. - Synagoga Tempelgasse w Wiedniu (niem. Synagoge Tempelgasse in Wien) – nieistniejąca obecnie, największa synagoga, która znajdowała się w Wiedniu, stolicy Austrii, przy Tempelgasse 3. Synagoga została zbudowana w latach 1854-1858, według projektu architekta Ludwiga Förstera. Służyła żydowskiej społeczności zamieszkującej dzielnicę Leopoldstadt. Posiadała ponad 2000 miejsc siedzących. Podczas nocy kryształowej z 9 na 10 listopada 1938 roku, bojówki hitlerowskie spaliły synagogę. Obecnie na miejscu znajduje się współczesny budynek, po części nawiązujący do architektury synagogi. Upamiętnia ją także tablica pamiątkowa o treści w języku niemieckim i hebrajskim: (pl)
