| - Der Human Rights Act 1998 ist ein Gesetz des Vereinigten Königreichs Großbritannien und Nordirland, das 1998 beschlossen wurde und am 2. Oktober 2000 in Kraft trat. Es legt fest, dass alle Menschenrechte, die in der Europäischen Menschenrechtskonvention niedergelegt sind, ausdrücklich auch im Vereinigten Königreich gelten. Es schaffte u. a. die Todesstrafe ausdrücklich ab, die allerdings de facto schon länger nicht mehr galt.Die Sektion 4 gibt den Richtern die Möglichkeit, bei Unvereinbarkeit eines Gesetzes mit der Europäischen Menschenrechtskonvention eine Erklärung der Unvereinbarkeit (englisch Declaration of Incompatibility) abzugeben. Das Parlament ist aber gesetzlich nicht dazu verpflichtet, das Gesetz zu ändern. (de)

- L'Human Rights Act 1998, in italiano, Legge dei diritti umani del 1998, è una legge promulgata dal Parlamento del Regno Unito che ha ricevuto la sanzione regia il 9 novembre 1998, poi entrata in vigore il 2 ottobre 2000. La legge stabilisce che tutti i diritti umani enunciati nella Convenzione europea per la salvaguardia dei diritti dell'uomo e delle libertà fondamentali si applicano esplicitamente al Regno Unito. Abolisce, inoltre, in modo esplicito la pena di morte, che di fatto non viene applicata già da molto tempo. L'articolo 4 dà ai giudici la possibilità di dichiarare una legge incompatibile con la Convenzione europea dei diritti dell'uomo; tuttavia, il Parlamento non è legalmente obbligato a modificare la legge. - The Human Rights Act 1998 (c. 42) is an Act of Parliament of the United Kingdom which received royal assent on 9 November 1998, and came into force on 2 October 2000. Its aim was to incorporate into UK law the rights contained in the European Convention on Human Rights. The Act makes a remedy for breach of a Convention right available in UK courts, without the need to go to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg. (en)
