  • Saighdiúir de chuid an 17ú haois ba ea Gearóid de Barra (d’éag 1647). Rugadh é i gContae Chorcaí agus, ar nós a lán fear eile den uasaicme Chaitliceach, chuaigh sé ag saighdiúireacht thar lear. D’fhill sé ar Éirinn sa bhliain 1641 agus chuaigh i ngleic ann le fórsaí Pharlaimint Shasana, ach ní raibh rath air ina thír féin. (ga)
