- Ernesto Carlos Tornquist (31 December 1842 – 17 June 1908) was an Argentinian entrepreneur and businessman, considered to be one of the most important entrepreneurs in Argentina at the end of the 19th century. The diversified business empire he created played a key role in helping to link Argentina with the trading and financial systems of the first world. Amongst many other achievements, he founded the Tornquist Bank, the Plaza Hotel in Buenos Aires, the partido of Tornquist and Tornquist its main city, in the south of Buenos Aires Province. (en)

Entre sus muchos legados, fundó el y el partido y la ciudad homónimos, ubicados ambos en la provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. También propició la formación de las colonias Bicha y Ramona en la provincia de Santa Fe y Quimilí en Santiago del Estero, por lo que se consideran entre sí "ciudades hermanas" por tenerlo como fundador en común. En Mar del Plata hizo importantes contribuciones y donaciones para el desarrollo de la ciudad como así también del exitoso balneario que en ella se encuentra. (es)
- Ernesto Carlos Tornquist, född 31 december 1842, död 17 juni 1908, var en argentinsk entreprenör och en av de viktigaste sådana i Argentina under slutet av 1800-talet och var delaktig i att utveckla landets ekonomi till att närma sig västerländsk standard. Bland annat grundade han Tornquist Bank, Plaza Hotel i Buenos Aires och kommunen Tornquist i södra Buenos Aires. Tornquist spelade dessutom bland annat en roll i att förhindra kriget mellan Argentina och Chile 1902 genom att medla med Storbritannien i gränskonflikten. Han hade svenska och tyska rötter på sin fars sida. (sv)
