Eric Skeffington Poole (20 January 1885 – 10 December 1916) was a British Army soldier who was the first commissioned officer to be executed by British military authority during World War I. Originally from Canada, after serving on the Western Front for four months he was sentenced to death by court martial for desertion during the Battle of the Somme, and shot by a firing squad on 10 December 1916.
