Entre 1976 y 1977 Kyle escribió dos libros ilustrados bien recibidos por la crítica sobre la historia de la ciencia ficción. Entre 1980 y 1983 escribió tres libros de la serie Lensman de E. E. Hij nam deel aan de eerste World Science Fiction Convention in 1939 en richtte met Martin Greenberg in 1948 uitgeverij Gnome Press op, waar werken als Asimovs Ik, Robot en Foundation werden uitgebracht.
