Ascum (Greek: Ασκούμ) was a general of the Byzantine Empire, active early in the reign of Justinian I (r. 527–565). He was in command of the Praetorian prefecture of Illyricum. His name is reported by John Malalas. Both Theophanes the Confessor and George Kedrenos render his name "Ακούμ" (Acum).

Το 528 ο Ακούμ μαζί με τον με τον και τον Γοδιλά στάλθηκαν ενάντια των Ούνων πού είχαν λεηλατήσει τη Μικρά Σκυθία) και τη Μοισία δευτέρα και είχαν περάσει στην Θράκη. Ο βυζαντινός στρατός νίκησε σε μάχη μια ομάδα εισβολέων. Λίγο μετά τη νίκη τους, οι βυζαντινές δυνάμεις σε δεύτερη μάχη έχασαν και ο Ακούμ με τον Κωνσταντίολο πιάστηκαν αιχμάλωτοι σε αυτή τη μάχη. Ενώ ο Κονστάντιολος εξαγοράστηκε πίσω στους Βυζαντινούς, ο Ακούμ "μεταφέρθηκε σε αιχμαλωσία". Δεν αναφέρεται ξανά και η τελική του μοίρα είναι άγνωστη. (el)
