André Rey (1906–1965) was a Swiss psychologist who first developed the Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure and the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test. Both tests are widely used in neuropsychological assessment.Rey was considered to be a pioneer in clinical psychology, child psychology, and neuropsychology. Rey is known in American neuropsychological literature for his "tests of malingering". Rey's tests of malingering include the Rey 15-Item Memory Test (RMT), the Rey Word Recognitions Test (WRT), and the Rey Dot Counting Test (DCT).

Professeur à l'Université de Genève, Rey est surtout connu pour son test de la « figure complexe », utilisé en psychologie de l'enfant, de l'adulte et de la personne âgée. André Rey a aussi mis au point plusieurs autres tests en psychologie de l'intelligence, en neurologie, sur la mémoire, pour les diagnostics, l'orientation professionnelle, etc. Esprit très créatif, il avait été remarqué par Édouard Claparède, fondateur de l'Institut Jean-Jacques Rousseau en 1912. Il y a côtoyé Jean Piaget qui, par sa puissance intellectuelle et son génie, a quelque peu éclipsé les travaux de Rey qui, de plus, n'avait guère songé à breveter ou commercialiser ses nombreux tests dont beaucoup sont utilisés et dont certains ne sont même pas encore étalonnés. Les idées de Rey connaissent un renouveau d'intérêt, notamment aux États-Unis et en Israël où des chercheurs les intègrent dans leurs recherches. Il en est de même pour les tests qu'il a créés. (fr)
