(en) Das Institut für Demoskopie Allensbach – Gesellschaft zum Studium der öffentlichen Meinung mbH (IfD) mit Sitz in Allensbach am Bodensee wurde laut Handelsregisterauszug am 16. Juni 1948 von Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann gegründet. Seit 1988 ist Renate Köcher Geschäftsführerin, bis 2010 an der Seite der Gründerin. Das Institut hat Niederlassungen in Bonn und Berlin. Unter den 95 Mitarbeitern befinden sich 25 Wissenschaftler. Darüber hinaus arbeiten beim IfD rund 1600 nebenberufliche Interviewer. Es gilt als dem konservativen politischen Spektrum zugehörig. Neben der Meinungsforschung arbeitet das Institut auch im Feld der Medienforschung (u. a. mit den Studien Allensbacher Markt- und Werbeträger-Analyse (AWA), (ACTA, TOPLevel)). Als einziges deutsches Institut arbeitet Allensbach nicht mit Zufa (de) L'Istituto di demoscopia di Allensbach è situato nelle vicinanze del lago di Costanza. Fu fondato nel 1947 da Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann, ed è uno dei più importanti istituti di ricerca d'opinione della Germania. Ne fanno parte all'incirca 100 dipendenti, dei quali un quarto circa sono ricercatori scientifici. Per svolgere il lavoro di ricerca vengono utilizzati circa 2.000 intervistatori da tutto il paese.
