Sie stellte im Finale einen neuen Weltmeisterschaftsrekord auf. Vizeweltmeisterin wurde Senbere Teferi. Bronze ging an die Vizeafrikameisterin von 2014 Genzebe Dibaba. Fünf Tage zuvor war sie hier in Peking Weltmeisterin über 1500 Meter geworden.
