| - The 1974 Buffalo Bills season was the franchise's 5th season in the National Football League, and the 15th overall. Buffalo made the NFL playoffs for the first time and reached the postseason for the first time in eight seasons. In the playoffs, they lost to the eventual champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers, 32-14 in Pittsburgh. Star running back O. J. Simpson, coming off consecutive rushing titles, did not lead the league in 1974, but did cross the 1,000-yard barrier despite a sore knee. (en)

Con come capo-allenatore la squadra ebbe un record di 9-5, classificandosi seconda nella AFC East Division. Nei playoff la squadra fu subito eliminata dai Pittsburgh Steelers in quella che fu l'unica gara in carriera di O.J. Simpson nella post-season, in cui corse 49 yard e segnò un touchdown su ricezione nel terzo quarto su passaggio del quarterback Joe Ferguson. Simpson, che aveva guidato la lega in yard corse nelle due stagioni precedenti non riuscì a ripetersi ma riuscì comunque a superare le mille yard malgrado un problema a un ginocchio. (it)
