- Sings the Movies is a studio album from Shirley Bassey released in 1995. In 1995 Shirley Bassey signed a deal with the PolyGram TV label, she recorded and released two albums with the label. The first was a themed album of movie songs. The songs were personally selected by Bassey for the album, and are a diverse range of ballads and pop classics, some were originally composed for original soundtracks, but several were classic songs that appeared in successful movies. One re-recording was made of the classic James Bond theme "Goldfinger", this is the fourth studio recording of the song by Shirley Bassey. No singles were issued from this album. Several TV performances were made by Bassey to promote this album and British television broadcast a successful commercial campaign. The album sold well across Europe and entered the UK Albums Chart, for a run of nine weeks, on November 11, 1995, peaked at No. 24, and earned a gold disc. (en)

Il est classé no 24 au UK Albums Chart et remporte un disque d'argent moins de deux semaines après sa sortie avec plus de 60 000 exemplaires vendus. Contrairement à ce que laisse entendre son nom, l'album ne comprend pas uniquement des thèmes de films. Par contre, plusieurs reprises de chansons entrées dans Top 10 du Billboard Hot 100 (et/ou du UK Singles Chart) y figurent : le standard d'Eddie Cantor Makin' Whoopee, Eleanor Rigby des Beatles, Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To) de Diana Ross, d'Olivia Newton-John, The Rose de Bette Midler, Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do) de Christopher Cross, Love On The Rocks de Neil Diamond, Let's Stay Together et We Don't Need Another Hero de Tina Turner, Who Wants to Live Forever de Queen et It Must Have Been Love de Per Gessle. À noter plusieurs reprises de chansons classées parmi les 500 plus grandes chansons de tous les temps selon Rolling Stone : Crazy, un hit de Patsy Cline de 1962 et Try A Little Tenderness, une reprise par Otis Redding de 1966.
