- Sawlon de Mohnyin (birman မိုးညှင်းစလုံ, móɲ̥íɴ səlouɴ) est un prince birman, saopha de l'état shan de Mohnyin de 1486 à sa mort en 1533. Il est surtout connu pour avoir conquis le royaume d'Ava en 1527. Sawlon était à la tête d'une confédération d'états shans qui mena des raids contre le territoire d'Ava durant tout le début du XVIe siècle. Dans les années 1520, cette confédération comprenait les états de Kale (Kalay), Momeik et Bhamo, et avait pour allié le royaume birman de Prome (Pyay). Ils menaient des attaques concertées contre Ava, qu'ils finirent par piller en 1524. Mais le roi Shwenankyawshin et son allié Hkonmaing, saopha de Hsipaw (Thibaw), continuèrent leur résistance. En 1527, les forces de Sawlon mirent à nouveau le siège devant Ava. Shwenankyawshin périt au combat. Sawlon plaça son fils Thohanbwa sur le trône, mettant fin au Royaume d'Ava après 163 ans de règne sur la Haute-Birmanie. Ava devint un état shan parmi d'autres et de nombreux birmans s'enfuirent dans le sud, à Taungû. Sawlon commit l'erreur de ne pas attaquer cette ville. Au lieu de cela, il se retourna contre son ancien allié, le roi de Prome, dont il était mécontent des services dans la guerre contre Ava. En 1533, Sawlon et Thohanbwa lancèrent une expédition qui s'empara de Prome. Sawlon fut assassiné par ses propres ministres à , sur le chemin du retour. Thohanbwa, roi d'Ava depuis 1527, lui succéda comme saopha de Mohnyin. Son autre fils Sithu Kyawhtin, nommé gouverneur de Salin, fut plus tard le dernier souverain d'Ava (1552 — 1555). (fr)
- Sawlon of Mohnyin (Burmese: မိုးညှင်းစလုံ [móɲ̥ɪ́ɰ̃ səlòʊɰ̃]; 1486–1533) was saopha of the Shan state of Mohnyin in the early the 16th century. He is best remembered in Burmese history as the conqueror of Ava Kingdom. Sawlon led a confederation of Shan states, and raided Avan territory throughout the first quarter of the 16th century. (The earliest reported date in the Burmese chronicles of a raid led by Sawlon of Mohnyin came in 1502. It is unclear if the Sawlon in 1502 was this Sawlon who would have been only 16 years old, then. The Sawlon in 1502 may have been Sawlon's father.) By the 1520s, his confederation included Shan states of Kale (Kalay), Momeik, Bhamo as well as the Burman Kingdom of Prome (Pyay). The allies accelerated their concerted attacks on Ava from all directions, and sacked Ava in 1524. But King Shwenankyawshin of Ava and his ally Hkonmaing I of Onbaung–Hsipaw continued their resistance. In 1527, his forces again laid siege to Ava where Shwenankyawshin fell in battle. Sawlon placed his son on the Ava throne, ending Ava's 163-year reign of Upper Burma. Ava became just another Shan state, and many Burmans fled to Toungoo. Sawlon made a fateful choice of not attacking Toungoo Kingdom in the southeast of Ava. Instead, he chose to attack his erstwhile ally Prome for he was unsatisfied with the assistance he received from his ally King Thado Minsaw of Prome in their war against Ava. In late 1532, Sawlon and Thohanbwa marched south and captured Prome. After the conquest of Prome, Sawlon was murdered by his own ministers on his way back home to Mohnyin. (en)
