Leur son unique est caractérisé, entre autres, par l'absence de basse, ainsi que par les diverses influences musicales qu'ils intègrent à leurs compositions (thrash metal, doom metal...). Le groupe est formé en 1997, composé alors du chanteur J. R. Hayes (Enemy Soil), du guitariste Scott Hull (Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Anal Cunt), et du batteur John Evans. Throughout the band's earlier history, they were a three-piece group until sampler Blake Harrison joined in 2006, notably had no bassist until the inclusion of John Jarvis in 2013, and went through 2 past drummers with the role currently held by Adam Jarvis. Pig Destroyer is one of the most well-known grindcore bands in the genre due to Hayes's poetic lyrics, Hull's incorporation of thrash, punk, and doom influences in songwriting, and technical drum work. Уничтожитель свиней) — американская грайндкор группа, образована в 1997 году.Первоначально название команды предполагалось «Cop Killer» или «Cop Destroyer», но было отвергнуто группой как бестактное, и участники остановились на названии «Pig Destroyer» (слово «pig» употребляется в американском сленге в значении «полицейский»). Отличительными чертами творчества команды, являются высокая скорость исполнения, техническая безупречность, дикая агрессия, переходящая грань истерии. Высокий вокал, используемый группой, выглядит более характерным для краст или powerviolence исполнителей, однако используется и низкий гроулинг. Pig Destroyer не используют бас-гитару. В 2000 году один из наиболее значимых метал-лейбов Relapse Records заключил c командой контракт, и в июле 2000 года выпустил сплит (совместный релиз)с группой Isis на 7 дюймовой виниловой пластинке.
