Nghê (Vietnamese pronunciation: [ŋeː]) is a legendary chimerical creature that appears in Vietnamese culture and mythology. Although influenced by Chinese qilin, nghê also carry influences from Indian lions and Buddhism. Nghê are the embodiment of a dog that is close to Vietnamese life.Today, there are still many works of art depicting nghê that exist in many temples, pagodas, shrines, communal temple and museums (Hanoi Vietnam National Museum of History, Paris Guimet Museum), but it has gradually lost its position.
